I just love New York sometimes. There’s such diversity, such rich appreciation for various cultures. In fact, diversity and eclecticism are mainstream here. So imagine how thrilled I was when I found out about this cool Persian cultural event going on this weekend, and practically in my neighborhood to boot!
Here’s the blurb that was sent to me via email:
Saturday, June 12, 2-9pm
Iranian Cultural Village
Curated by Niloufar Talebi
Co-Sponsors: Iran Heritage Magazine, PCHA, Persian Arts Festival and more…
* Wedding ceremonial display
* Persian New Year (Norouz) display
* Books and art display
* Traditional costumes
* Children’s DVDs
*Workshops in backgammon, calligraphy, jewelry-making, Persian name writing Persian poetry & music in performance
*Spoken word Ballet Afsaneh – Dance and Music performances
I have to work Saturday, but luckily I finish in time to roll by this festival and check it out. I’ll try to take some pics and report back. Can’t wait!
